About Friday 5s

Join a Friday 5s Team

There are 3 ways to join Friday 5s:

  • Register as an individual player and we’ll match you with a team.
  • Register a partial team (2 to 4 players) and we’ll find you additional players
  • Register a full team (5 players or more)

If you’re registering a partial team or full team, make sure you:

  • Have one parent that will be the main contact with Friday 5s
  • Have the first and last names of all players in your team
  • Have a team name
  • Have thought about who your coach will be

Struggling to find a coach? Don’t worry! We are happy to recommend a list of qualified coaches

Once there is a full team, we’ll be in touch with you about paying the term fee of 2,520 AED. This fee covers the cost of the entire team (individual players will split the cost evenly).

What to Expect During the Term

Once the term begins, your players and coach simply need to show up every Friday, five minutes before your designated match time. For Autumn Term 2023, match dates are:

October 13 and 27

November 3, 10, 17, and 24

December 1 and 8

Matches take place at the incredibly well-maintained football pitches at Miracle Garden, Arjan. There’s plenty of parking, it’s easy to access via public transport, and there’s no shortage of space for parents to watch.

Each match is 40 minutes long – two 20 minute halves with a five minute break in between.

Team members simply need to wear their team kit, shin pads, and non-metal studded football boots.

We hope so! But in reality, there might be an odd number of teams and/or one age range simply doesn’t have enough teams and players. If that’s the case, we’ll communicate with you immediately after term registrations close. We’ll ask you:

  • If you know of any kids in your community who might want to create a team.
  • If you want a refund for the term or if you want to hold your place in the league until more teams join

Dubai has an excellent selection of high-quality football clubs, and we’ve had the pleasure of working with many of them. The majority of football clubs in Dubai already know about Friday 5s and have voiced excitement that some of their players who haven’t been able to compete previously will now get the chance.

Friday 5s isn’t a club, so we don’t train players and we don’t have players compete for us. That’s what the existing football clubs are for! We simply organise matches so kids across Dubai get more opportunities to play and compete on a team.

Speak with your kid’s current coach or contact us if you have any concerns.

Our referees are highly qualified and will ensure the safety of all players. If a referee feels that a player is not adhering to the rules, the referee will ask the player’s coach to please take this player off the pitch until they are ready to resume fair play.

If an injury does take place, we have registered medics on site at all times to quickly and professionally see to the hurt player.

Once a team is formed, we take into consideration the ages of the players and the estimated level of ability/experience of the team as a whole. We use this information to ensure teams are competing against comparable teams.

As the term progresses, if one team seems to be dominating, this team will be placed with more advanced teams to make matches more fair. The same goes for teams who find themselves struggling; we will adjust them to play with other teams that more accurately match their ability.

We expect teams to compete every Friday throughout the term. This is why we recommend seven players per team in case one or two players can’t make it each week.

If you think you’ll be short of players one week or if none of your players can attend, let us know as soon as possible and we’ll do our best to source players for your team.

If a team does not show up for a scheduled match without notifying Friday 5s at least 24 hours in advance, they risk losing their space in the league for the remainder of the term.
